About us

Anger is not the enemy—unformed anger is.

We equip believers to steward anger biblically, break unhealthy patterns, and grow in emotional wholeness, spiritual maturity, purpose, and destiny.

EPICS Keeping Your Cool Institute is powered by EPICS Counseling Services and serves as a Christ-centered educational and formation training center dedicated to equipping children, youth, individuals, couples, families, leaders, ministry teams, and the broader Body of Christ to steward anger God’s way.

The Institute provides curriculum pathways, educational classes, coaching, mentorship, small groups, discipleship experiences, leadership development, workshops, retreats, and hybrid in-person and virtual learning opportunities.

We help people understand their emotions, renew their minds with biblical truth, develop Christlike conduct and godly character, strengthen relationships, and build the emotional and spiritual capacity to live with greater purpose and intentionality.

Our goal is to help believers move beyond hiding, suppressing, reacting to, or spiritualizing their emotions and toward greater emotional awareness, healthy expression, spiritual maturity, personal responsibility, and Christ-centered transformation.

Mission and vision

What we are for, and where we are going.

  • Our mission

Our mission is to restore emotional wholeness within the Body of Christ by equipping believers to steward and sanctify anger through biblical formation, renew unhealthy patterns of thinking and behavior, and walk fully in their God-given identity, purpose, and destiny.

  • Our vision

Our vision is to see generations of believers equipped to steward anger biblically, experience healing and transformation, and become firmly rooted in their identity in Christ—breaking free from unhealthy emotional patterns and destructive behaviors so they can walk boldly in their God-given purpose and destiny.

Our promise. We equip believers to steward anger biblically, break unhealthy patterns, and grow in emotional wholeness, spiritual maturity, purpose, and destiny.

Our philosophy

Emotional maturity is not opposed to spiritual maturity.

The EPICS Keeping Your Cool Institute is a Christ-centered emotional and spiritual formation pathway rooted in the belief that true spiritual maturity includes emotional integrity, self-awareness, healing, biblical character, and personal responsibility.

We believe anger is a God-given emotion. Anger itself is not the enemy; unformed, unmanaged, and ungodly responses to anger can become destructive. Rather than teaching people to suppress, deny, fear, or spiritualize their emotions, we teach them how to understand, process, and steward those emotions under the authority of Christ.

Our work helps individuals recognize what is happening beneath their anger, examine unhealthy thoughts and patterns, take responsibility for their responses, establish healthy boundaries, communicate effectively, and respond in ways that reflect biblical wisdom and Christlike character.

We believe emotional growth and spiritual growth should not be separated. Emotional awareness creates an opportunity for deeper discipleship, while biblical truth provides the foundation for how emotions are understood and expressed.

Our approach creates safe, structured, Christ-centered environments where people can learn, practice, reflect, heal, grow, and develop the capacity to respond rather than simply react.

Why we exist

Learning to pray about an emotion is not the same as learning to understand it.

EPICS Keeping Your Cool Institute exists because many believers have learned how to pray about their emotions without learning how to understand them, process them, and respond to them in healthy and biblical ways.

Some have been taught to suppress anger. Others have been told that experiencing anger is itself sinful. Some have spiritualized emotional pain, while others have learned to react from unresolved wounds, unhealthy beliefs, fear, insecurity, or learned behaviors.

We believe there is another way.

We exist to help believers understand that emotional maturity is not opposed to spiritual maturity—it can be part of it.

We equip individuals to recognize unhealthy patterns, renew their minds, develop Christlike responses, strengthen relationships, establish healthy boundaries, and take responsibility for how they respond to life’s challenges.

Our ultimate goal

Our ultimate goal is to help people move:

What makes our approach unique

Ten marks of the way we work.

EPICS Keeping Your Cool Institute is unique because we do not approach anger solely as a behavior problem or simply as an emotion to control. We view anger through the combined lenses of biblical formation, emotional awareness, personal responsibility, behavioral change, and spiritual maturity.

  • Forms rather than simply manages

We focus on developing the whole person rather than teaching anger-control techniques alone.

  • Integrates faith and emotional wellness

Biblical truth and emotional education work together rather than being treated as separate areas of growth.

  • Addresses what is beneath the anger

We explore thoughts, beliefs, wounds, triggers, unmet needs, relationship patterns, and learned behaviors that may influence emotional responses.

  • Teaches stewardship rather than suppression

Participants learn that emotions can be acknowledged without allowing emotions to dictate behavior.

  • Emphasizes sanctification

We recognize emotional growth as part of the believer’s ongoing journey of becoming more Christlike.

  • Builds personal responsibility

We teach participants to take ownership of their choices, responses, communication, and relationships without shame or condemnation.

  • Connects emotional maturity to spiritual maturity

Self-control, patience, wisdom, forgiveness, humility, compassion, and healthy boundaries are treated as aspects of Christian formation.

  • Moves from awareness to application

Participants are not simply taught what anger is; they are given opportunities to practice new ways of thinking, communicating, responding, and relating.

  • Creates structured pathways for growth

Through classes, coaching, discipleship pathways, groups, workshops, mentorship, and leadership development, individuals can continue growing beyond a single course or experience.

  • Makes room for both grace and accountability

We believe people can be met with compassion while still being challenged to take responsibility for unhealthy patterns.
